Mannheim is well connected to Europe through various modes of transportation. On this page, you will find information about transportation options to get here.
You can get a train directly to Mannheim from cities across Germany and some neighboring countries. Just head to Mannheim main station (Mannheim Hbf). The main station is very close to the University of Mannheim, only a 10 minute walk to the main campus.
You can purchase your train ticket ahead of time online, or upon arrival to the station at the kiosks labelled “Fahrkarten” which can be used in English and other languages. Tram lines 1, 2, 4a, 5/5a, 6/6a, 15 and bus no. 60 will take you from the main station to the "Schloss" or "Universität" stops.
For trains from the airport to Mannheim, we recommend buying your ticket at the kiosks rather than ahead of time so that you leave enough time for inter-terminal travel and in case your flight arrives late.
You can book trains to or from the airport here: https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml
You can reach us by car via the A6, exit "Mannheim Mitte". At the planetarium, follow the sign to the left in direction of the university. After passing the main station, you will find yourself on "Bismarckstraße", which runs directly in front of the castle, the seat of the University of Mannheim. The main entrance to the university is in the east wing, which you will see on your left. Unfortunately, the university does not have a visitor parking lot.
We recommend the underground car park beneath the canteen (Mensa).
Once you arrive in Mannheim, there are many ways to travel around the city. The University and city center are accessible by foot from the main station, but it is also possible to get around by tram, bus, taxi or rental bike.

The closest airport to us is Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), only 30 minutes away from Mannheim by train. After you land in Frankfurt Airport, you should find your way to the Terminal 1 Long Distance Trains. This stop is called “Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof” and has frequent trains to Mannheim.

You can also fly into Stuttgart Airport (STR). After arrival, you will need to take a bus to the main station, known as “Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof,” where you should then get a train to Mannheim. Direct trains take about 40 minutes.
